Dell Laptop - Inspiron i7559

My main PC currently is a Dell laptop: Dell Inspiron i7559-763BLK 15.6" Full-HD Gaming Laptop (Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX960M) with Windows 10 I added 8 GB RAM - so it features now 16 GB and added 500 GB SSD. This laptop has no USB Type-C, only USB 3.0 and 2.0 are available. So far I am very please with this laptop's performance. I use it as a desktop computer but occasionally I take it with me if I travel for longer than one week. HP Scanjet 4370

I have an old scanner - HP Scanjet 4370. It is an old piece of equipment that is controlled by legacy software, HP doesn't produce updates since Windows Vista. This means that I had to use Windows Vista SP2 compatibility mode to install this software on Windows 10. This also means that each time there is a major update to the Windows OS from Microsoft, my HP scanner software stops working again. The symptom is very similar each time - when HP Solution Center is started, MS installer is invoked trying to install some missing module or files. It cannot find the installation package at previously saved location though and it fails. Cancelling installation hangs the installer. HP Solution Center is not started. How to repair: Uninstall - run the installer D:\Install\hp_scanner\setup_full_G3010_4370.exe in Windows Vista SP2 compatibility mode as administrator. Disconnect USB cable from the scanner. Install (full install, easy option) - run the inst

Why I created this blog.

Hello fellow Geeks and PC users! There is plenty of resources all over the internet that help computing enthusiasts and regular users to solve issues with their computing device, OS, piece of software etc. Therefore there is no need for another one. This blog is not intended to publish regular articles about wide variety of PC problems and their ultimate solutions. It is rather a journal of my personal experience. I keep a file on my PC with problems that I typically experienced and with solutions to them that I came up with or found on the internet. These solutions are not necessarily optimal and may not work for others.  So, use at your own risk! You've been warned.  I decided to share similar journal on the internet hoping that somebody in similar niche to mine may find it useful. What is my niche? Glad you asked! You see, I keep and use my PC-s for a long time. I am not talking about my retro computers collection, but rather about regular every day computing workhorses
